Transmission Risk
- For transmission to occur the infected blood or bodily fluids need to enter the bloodstream of another person
- The risk of transmission to another person depends on:
- Route of transmission (unprotected sex, IVDU)
- Infectiousness of the virus (hepatitis B is more infectious than hepatitis C and 100 x more infectious than HIV)
- Stage of the infection
- Whether the person is receiving treatment
